Spring 2018 Update

Yay foaling time.  Smitten foaled a bay colt by Sandreo right on her due date on 6th November.    Followed by Elsa delivering my much longed for jet black filly by Firestone on 2nd December.   It is very exciting seeing the quality that can be produced by using this top international frozen semen.  Both foals are simply stunning.    The black filly has been named Freya and she is being retained by the stud as future broodmare prospect.  I had a page follower contact me before the Sandreo colt was born asking for first option on him.  On meeting him after his birth she agreed he was the most delightful thing on four legs and he was consequently sold at a few weeks of age.   Spring also saw the arrival of a new mare.  Kate is on breeding lease from Silver linings equestrian in Cust and is a lovely big TB mare by Handsome Ransome, she has previously produced 3 gorgeous warmblood foals and I am hoping get her in foal to a fancy frozen warmblood.  Will be very exciting to see what she produces for me.

On the feed side it is all about baling as our first cut of haylage was processed in and amoungst rain showers during a very wet spring.   The new cut of haylage was done just in time at we sold out of the 1700 bales of haylage we had made the previous season and had a gap of few weeks before the new seasons bales were ready to go.   During spring we also cultivated a 2 ha paddock of pure Timothy and the rest of the property was oversown with timothy and fertilized.
